Project Manager, Advanced Simulation Applications

Andrew Wasik

Over the past several years, Andrew has served primarily as a project manager on Digital Twin, Operator Training, and software development projects for Aurel.

Skills

Project Management, GUI Development, Custom Simulation Applications, Software Development, Business Management and Financial Modeling.

Experience

After graduating from the University of Toronto with a BCom specializing in Finance, Mr. Wasik attended the University of British Columbia working towards a M.Eng in Materials Engineering. His thesis work involved developing mineral processing modules in C++ which could be used in dynamic simulation (and later added to the CADSIM Plus simulation package). Other relevant experience:

  • Previously at Rogers Communications, Mr. Wasik served as Project Manager and International Roaming Manager. As Project Manager, he strategized and coordinated the launch of Rogers’ innovative roaming products such as “Roam Like Home” and “Outback”.
  • At Aurel, Mr. Wasik has been the project lead for developing a fully functioning operating training simulators (OTS) over top of CADSIM. One project of note was for the Koniambo mine in New Caledonia. For this OTS project, Mr. Wasik built a Graphical User Interface (GUI) using C++ to run alongside CADSIM Plus. The GUI needed to match the current process so the plants could train its operators on run real scenarios in a simulation that would look, act and feel like the real operating system. Other OTS projects undertaken by Andrew would typically involve connecting CADSIM to the current DCS provider (where CADSIM provides the process data).
  • Has over 20 years of experience developing modules and complex DLM’s using C++ for the CADSIM Plus simulation package. In addition, he developed over 200 Process and Control drawing parts which are currently being used in the latest CADSIM releases.
  • During his time working for Tembec, Mr. Wasik used CADSIM to develop a complete Machine room white water mass and energy balance/simulation for the Skookumchuck pulp mill.
